You will serve as an ANTENNA WORKER in the ANTENNA SUBDIVISION of NRS T JIM CREEK.
Duties
You will be responsible for the maintenance of the Very Low Frequency (VLF) antenna system.
You will document all inspection results, maintenance actions and repairs performed.
You will assist journeyman with completing preventive maintenance and repairs of VLF and HF antenna systems.
You will assist journeymen with completing Safety and Structural Inspections of VLF and HF systems.
You will assist journeyman by providing periodic safety training to helpers and laborers.
You will maintain approximately 587 acres of cleared antenna field under energized antenna spans.
You will provide maintenance support of the antenna ground field by controlling vegetation utilizing chain saws and herbicide applications.
You will assist journeymen Antenna Mechanic and/or Electrician when tasked with limited electrical work.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Incumbent mut be in excellent physical condition and must be able to pull 350 pounds on a torque wrench while tightening hardware when working aloft.

ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION such as:
Gas cutting, welding, exothermic welding, weight handling equipment, including estimating safe working loads.
Operating heavy-duty winch equipment, reeling devices, hoist, man-lifts and material and weight handling equipment.
Using various electrical and electronic test instruments such as voltmeters, Amprobe and antenna test sets and using conductor locating equipment.
Following accepted industry standards and procedures for rigging and moving heavy objects.
Providing maintenance support of fields by controlling vegetation utilizing chainsaws, and herbicides application.
Performing various collateral duties as assigned by the Antenna Mechanic Supervisor.
Using hand and power tools.
