Duties

The Mission Support Specialist (Workforce Management) plans and carries out a wide variety of administrative, management and program planning activities, policy research and other duties related to the missions and functions of Mission Readiness Operations. This position starts at a salary of $82,830.00 (GS-12, Step 1) to $107,680.00 (GS-12, Step 10) with promotion potential to $107,680.00 (GS-12 Step 10). As a Mission Support Specialist (Workforce Management), you are a key team member of Homeland Security professionals providing advisory and technical services to management. Typical work assignments include: Providing advice involving workforce issues to senior leaders, supervisors, and nonsupervisory staff. Developing and coordinating hiring plans by obtaining input from program officials. Generating, updating, and maintaining various reports, providing updated information for CBP's internal Table of Organization (TO) tracker. Submitting and monitoring personnel-related actions and awards. Developing and delivering briefings, project papers, status reports, staff reports and correspondence.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Serving as a liaison with Labor-Employee Relations (LER), the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEO), the Office of Chief Counsel (OCC), and the Office of Workers' Compensation Program (OWCP) for cases that have workforce implications; Assisting, researching, collecting, and analyzing Office of Workers' Compensation Program (OWCP) case information; Submitting and monitoring personnel-related actions related to promotions, reassignments, transfers, retirements, awards, timecards, and leave; Developing and delivering briefings, project papers, status reports, staff reports, and correspondence to managers to foster understanding and acceptance of findings and recommendations; Assisting leadership in the development and implementation of policies related to sector workforce and position management, procedures, and other matters affecting USBP administrative programs. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 11/27/2023.
