About the Position: This is a military technician position with the Army Reserve Aviation Command, Aviation Support Facility (ASF) Knox East, located at Fort Knox, Kentucky. This position requires an active membership as a Soldier in the Army Reserve before a start date can be set. Duties

Repairing and rebuilding hydraulic cylinders and systems and pneumatic systems Testing pressure safety devices Repairing a variety of power support systems Servicing and repairing of air conditioning in vehicles Servicing of industrial and domestic reach-in and walk-in refrigerators Repairing electrical and transistorized systems in AC and DC applications

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • THIS POSITION REQUIRES ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP AS A SOLDIER IN THE U.S. ARMY RESERVE (USAR).
  • This position requires a Personnel Security Investigation.
  • This position is subject to Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements.
  • This position requires a medical examination prior to employment.
  • This position requires incumbent to maintain a current Military Drivers License.
  • This position may require to obtain and maintain Certification for operator and instructor of Power Industrial Forklift, under OSHA standards.

To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience in the following: troubleshooting and repairing a variety of power support systems and equipment; troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems and equipment; and servicing and repairing air conditioning and refrigeration units. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Screen OutAbility to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc.Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and EquipmentKNOWLEDGE OF EQUIPMENT ASSEMBLY, INSTALLATION, REPAIR, ETC. Physical Effort: Performs work, which involves frequent bending, reaching, crouching, standing, arm movement. Works in awkward positions or cramped areas. Frequently lifts parts and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Occasionally lifts items weighing up to 75 pounds using jacks, hoists, or helpers. Subject to strain caused by vibrations of the crane, and from jerking and jolting motion while lifting and moving loads. Working Conditions: Most work is done inside where it is frequently noisy, drafty, and fumes from vehicles are usually present. Occasionally performs repairs outside, sometimes during bad weather. Dirt, dust, and grease are always present. Vehicle fluids such as battery acid and hydraulic fluid may cause skin irritation or burns. There is frequent exposure to the possibility of bruises, cuts, shocks, burns, and strains. Works in noise hazard areas, requiring an annual audiometric evaluation. Exposed to the possibility of injury caused by swinging loads or from the crane overturning.
