This position is located in the Office of Strategic Planning, Initiative Development and Analysis (OSPIDA), Office of Science Management Operations (OSMO), Office of the Director (OD), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), National Institutes of Health (NIH), Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).

Duties

As a Supervisory Health Science Policy Analyst, some of your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following: Collaborates with the Director in providing supervision and management for the staff of OSPIDA. Assists the Director in exercising responsibility for all NIAID-wide scientific planning activities, including NIH-wide planning, long-range planning, and disease-specific planning efforts. Leads and oversees efforts to maximize the impact of knowledge sharing in scientific planning reporting within and outside the Institute and responding to a broad range of external inquiries. Provides oversight and direction to the development and maintenance of comprehensive electronic scientific information databases and systems in the support of program planning and evaluation activities. Provides a range of scientific and technical expertise to facilitate initiative development, including coordination, management, approval and publication of research and development contract and grant solicitations to support biomedical research focused on NIAID mission critical science.

Qualifications

You qualify for the Supervisory Health Science Policy Analyst GS-601-15 level, if you meet the following qualification requirements: Education Qualifications: Completion of a Bachelor's degree, or graduate/higher level degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of this position? (This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained). Additional Qualifications: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-14) in the Federal Service obtained in either the private or public sector that equips me with the knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of this position, such as the following: providing leadership and oversight for scientific strategic planning, policy, and evaluation activities to support biomedical research programs; managing data analytics, coding, and reporting to support scientific program planning, reporting, analysis, and evaluation activities; overseeing research initiative development and management activities; providing guidance to senior management officials on strategic planning, initiative development, and analysis programs to support biomedical research; and collaborating with other officials, staff, and organizations on scientific strategic planning, program evaluation, initiative development, and research portfolio management.
