You will serve as a SUPERVISORY TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST in the MARINE FORCES RESERVE, G-4 of MARFORRES NOLA.

Duties

You will conduct transportation cost studies by analyzing data items, such as short tons, total ton miles, billed cost per ton mile and cost per delivery. You will develop requirements for reporting of material movements, workload and cost; use of appropriate Master Data File in applying freight classifications and express services (FEDEX, LTL, CSSP, etc). You will develop requirements for operations such as shipment planning, movement and assist in route plans with respective ITOs; manifesting and billing, handling heavy lift and special cargo requirements. You will complete post audits on all documentation and provide corrective action on all transportation bills of lading for payment to the Transportation Voucher Certification Brancy (TVCD). You will initiate, follow through, advise, submit and follow through all Transportation Discrepancy Reports in a timely manner.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing advice and guidance on a wide range of industry practices/procedures and established regulations, requirements, and techniques related to the personal property and passenger travel functional programs. 2) Resolving problems of a procedural or factual nature (e.g. determining mode and carrier according to the destination and priority assigned to shipments and the destination and volume of passenger movements). In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

master's or equivalent graduate degree

or

2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.B. or J.D., if related
