The primary purpose of this position is to perform building and/or utility maintenance and operation duties. Incumbent utilitizes journeyman knowledge and skills in several trades and crafts.
Duties
The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of duties as a maintenance mechanic on buildings and utilities using journeyman skills in sheetmetal, iron, woodcrafting, masonry, glazing and painting some of these are historic building and utilitlies. This position will work with the building and utilities in constructing new, alter or repair, rehabilitate or modify existing historic items such as windows, doors, posts, beams, stairways, railings interior and exterior moldings siding, rafters, roofing, etc. May serve as 'Project Inspector' on later Historic Preservation Project contracts. Operates trucks up to 20,000 GVW on public roads. Operates and performs preventive maintenance on portable generators, and portable water pumps. Will be required to operate motor boats up to 30' in length safely on Lake Superior in all weather conditions. Will be required to work at heights up to 130'. Assists other historic structure teams in work duties, provides general information to public and may perform custodial services when needed.
