About the Position: This position is a Librarian with the Soldier Support Institute (SSI) at Fort Jackson SC. The City of Fort Jackson is located in Richland County in the State of South Carolina.
Duties
Trains customers in the utilization of end-user products and a variety of research and reference electronic and print materials.
Conducts extensive searches for information using general and specialized print and online and web-based research tools in response to research and reference questions by assembling data from a variety of sources.
Manages library services and provide reference and research services in an academic and technical library specializing in military science, military history, leadership, educational theory, management, and other disciplines.
Performs original and modified descriptive cataloging, subject analysis and classification of a wide variety of specialized information in all formats, including digital.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. BASIC REQUIREMENT FOR Librarian: Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate study in library science in an accredited college or university, in addition to completion of all work required for a bachelor's degree. (Note: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
A total of at least 5 years of a combination of college-level education, training, and experience. To qualify on this basis, the applicant must establish conclusively that the education, training, and experience provided a knowledge and understanding of the theories, principles, and techniques of professional librarianship; a knowledge of literature resources; and the knowledge and abilities essential for providing effective library and information services. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) preparing written instructions, bibliographies, and other training aids for end-user education; 2) using library automation to solve highly complex problems within the functions and to manage the library system; 3) conducting research on management and education related issues such as time management, critical thinking, study skills and effective working habits. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11 or above).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
