Duties

Monitors labor balances, expenditure rates, and creates project labor codes for technical office staff to ensure project funding is appropriately executed. Tracks funding expenditures and commitments through financial management software reports. Maintains up-to-date spreadsheet of actual and projected supply and training expenses for technical offices and projects balance against budgeted amounts to predict budgetary shortfalls. Coordinates with Engineering Division supervisors to identify project budget requirements and briefs staff on expenditures and remaining balance.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Position requires you obtain and maintain a Financial Management Level I certification in accordance with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Public Law 112-81, subtitle F-Financial Management, section 1051 within 24 months.
  • The business travel requirement is 10%.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 grade level in the Federal service defined as: experience with financial data entry into a database software system such as the Corps of Engineers Financial Management System (CEFMS); research and reference appropriate financial regulations and policy and apply to daily duties; experience with spreadsheet applications, management and analysis of spreadsheet data and compile and summarize information and data to complete assigned portions of budgetary reports concerning milestones, expenditures, costs, and obligation of funds. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration, Public Administration, etc. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementData ManagementFinancial ManagementTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
