You will serve as a Theater Specialist in the Office of Special Events, Superintendent office of the U.S.NAVAL ACADEMY.
Duties
You will set-up and operate audio, audio equipment and systems used in producing live and recorded events.
You will troubleshoot audio visual systems within labs, conference rooms, or lecture halls.
You will direct the work of production personnel (e.g., writers, actors, camera operators, audio or lighting technicians) to produce and arrange the
actions required for finished productions.

Qualifications
For the GS-09 level:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1)Operate system/consoles in response to detailed lighting plans and cue sheets; 2) Utilize lighting concepts to enhance theatrical performance; 3) Instruct staff on proper stage practices and procedures; 4) Orient visiting production road managers, stage managers, electricians and sound and light technicians to ensure acclamation to auditorium system and equipment; and 5) Train staff personnel on all audio, theatrical, rigging and lighting systems for maximum efficiency and conservation. For the GS-07 level:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Ensure the safety of sound equipment, operator, audience and artist of every set up; 2) Maintain computer equipment and software associated with lighting and sound systems; 3) Maintain scenery equipment and other properties used in production of events; 4) Recommend the acquisition of audio, theatrical, lighting, stage equipment, and scenery materials to support event projects; 5)Coordinate with stage manager to ensure audio operations is ran smoothly and 6) Assist in the setup, breakdown and operations of venue stage, audio-video, lighting and sound systems. Physical Demands:
Work requires strenuous physical activity that includes frequent lifting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, stooping, and climbing. This position require frequently lifting, carrying and/or handle heavy items such as setup tools, stage equipment, parts that weigh up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment:
Work is usually performed inside a theater environment which is well lighted, heated and ventilated. Incumbent may exposed to injuries such as electrical shock and burns, cuts, bruises, falls, and noise while working on system/equipment, lighting, rigging, when making connections and when performing maintenance and repairs. Position may require occasional work outdoors. Requires extensive work at night and on weekends during productions, varsity basketball season, and other events/lectures supporting the Brigade of Mishipmen.
Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
For GS-09:
Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree with a major study in drama or theater
OR
Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree with a major study in drama or theater.
OR
Possession of an LL.B. or J.D. that is related to this position being filled.
