THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a AUDITOR - TITLE 5, Position Description Number PDT5144P01 and is part of the KY USPFO, National Guard.

Duties

As a AUDITOR - TITLE 5, GS-0511-12, you will develop audit plans and devise detailed fact-finding techniques. Study background material to gain program information and discover leads. Prepare audit program based on the use of advanced audit techniques. Conduct entrance conferences with management officials at the audit site. Explain purpose and procedures for the audit. Perform survey work to identify potential operating/financial management problems. Review operating procedures and management practices of the activity. Prepare audit lead sheets to identify potential weaknesses in internal controls. Document survey results in accordance with Comptroller General Standards. Accomplish audit steps in concert with Comptroller General Standards and audit techniques in gathering, documenting, and summarizing data. Prepare working papers and files in accordance with Comptroller General Standards. Prepare audit reports that present findings, identify causative situations, and recommend corrective action. Follow up with discussion of findings with activity level officials. Perform audit follow-up on findings, recommendations, and monetary benefits made during the previous audit. Report to command on the status of corrective actions taken by functional activities. Provide unscheduled, quick reaction troubleshooting capabilities to the command to prevent or correct serious, high-profile problems. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least one (1) year experience at the next lower level in the normal line of progression through federal service (GS-11) or equivalent experience that demonstrates the knowledge of the theory, practices, methods, and techniques of accounting and auditing. Experience that has provided full understanding of the organizational program practices, policies, and functions. Ability to independently plan, conduct, and analyze evaluations of agency operational programs, or industrial operations and their related accounting systems. Experience interpreting and advising on regulatory, statutory and procedural matters. Experience planning an audit, interpreting findings, and developing or modifying techniques to resolve problems. Knowledge to comprehensively plan, analyze, and determine cost/benefit relationships involving complex audits. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Resume must have complete dates (Example 2 JAN 1980 to 3 MAR 1981 or JAN 1980 to MAR 1981), work schedule, and hours worked per week of employment. Education

Degree:
Accounting;
- OR -
a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included - or - was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to six hours of credit in business law.

Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's degree or higher.
