This Training Technician, GS-1702-5, position falls under VHA, Member Services (MS), Business Support Office (BSO), Training and Quality Management (TQM) department. The selectee will serve as a productive and proficient member of the Training Team and will provide administrative support.
Duties
Major Duties include (but are not limited to): Locates materials that verifies information; Develops reliable information and properly composes statements using proper writing techniques and structure; Searches for and selects (from the available documents) the most directly related information to any question or issue; Documents training results, records training sessions, and responds to help desk issues; Assists department Specialists with record management and maintenance; Assists team members in tracking and monitoring requirements for agency customers and manages applicable records; and Arranges records for storage and/or reference, scheduled disposition, and retrieval.
Promotion Potential: This GS-5 position is being announced at the full performance level.
Work Schedule: M-F, 8 hour shift between 7AM-7PM (TBD by Supervisor)

This position may be authorized for telework. Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/24/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: There are no time-in-grade requirements for this GS-5 position.
You may qualify based on your Specialized Experience and/or Education as described below.
Specialized Experience (GS-5): You must have one year of Specialized Experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-4) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
Examples of Specialized Experience include (but are not limited to): .
1) Prepares, composes, and reviews correspondence prepared for obtaining or supplying information
2) Determines file retention and disposal that includes determination of applicable authorities, screening, and preparation of files for retention and/or disposal
3) Performs a wide range of clerical and/or assistant level duties
4) Utilizes various software packages ( i.e. Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, Power Point, etc...) to prepare special reports, forms, and correspondence necessary to support agency function
5) Searches records or files to compose responses, including electronic data bank searches to retrieve and summarize hard-to-locate data

Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 4 years above the High School level (Transcripts required)
or,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of Specialized Experience and education beyond beyond two years above High School level (Transcripts required).

Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. There may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items such as papers, books, or small parts. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
