You will serve as a TELECOMMUNICATIONS MECHANIC in the Base Level Information Infrastructure Division, Base Communications Department of NAVAL COMP TELCOM AREA WESTPAC.
Duties
You will interpret work orders to determine materials, equipment, and tools are required as well as coordinate action with users, test board and/ or repairman and other installers.
You will install subscriber premise equipment to include complex key and single line telephone systems, telephone instruments and equipment, system components, and lines that support office automation equipment.
You will perform installation site surveys. You will perform onsite troubleshooting and repairs by locating cause and determining the nature of the trouble.
You will repair, test, and clean telephone instruments.

- This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States which could include remote or isolated sites. You may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- If eligible for permanent change of station, the appointee will be required to sign a transportation agreement to establish a Government time in service requirement of 12 months.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
- May be required to obtain a VISA dependent on the overseas country's laws/regulations.
- You will be required to sign the Statement of Understanding for Overseas Employment acknowledging receipt and understanding of the statement of living and working conditions for this location.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid State driver's license.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position.
- You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 within 6 months of appointment.
- This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
- The work requires frequent bending, pulling cables and wires, working in awkward positions, walking and standing for extended periods and climbing ladders and poles.
- The work requires lifting and carrying items and equipment weighing up to 20 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds with the assistance of lifting devices or other workers.
Qualifications
