About the Position: The mission of the CCAD is to overhaul, repair, modify, retrofit, test and modernize helicopters, engines and components for all services and foreign military customers. CCAD is the Army's Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence for Rotary Wing Aviation Maintenance. We provide worldwide on-site maintenance services, aircraft crash analysis, lubricating oil analysis, and chemical, metallurgical and training support.
Duties
Serve as first line supervisor over a Facility Maintenance Branch, exercising full supervisory responsibility over work operations.
Inspect repair work performed on various boilers, chillers, air compressors, electrical components, piping, carpentry and other equipment or infrastructure under the area of responsibility at the Corpus Christi Army Depot.
Utilize the Facilities Equipment Maintenance System (FEMS) and work directly with the Maintenance Planner to plan and assign work to subordinates and determine work schedules, deadlines, and priorities.
Make repairs to high pressure boiler systems, large industrial chiller systems, a full range of high voltage and low voltage electrical systems, complex piping systems.
Maintain buildings and grounds at the Facility Maintenance Branch.
Operate boilers, chillers, and compressed air systems, fire alarm systems, carpentry and other miscellaneous maintenance.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a Tier 2: Non-Sensitive, Moderate Risk (Public Trust) suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires to possess or the ability to acquire a state driver's license.
- This position may be required to work nights and/or weekends depending on the needs of the project to which the employee is assigned.
- This position may be required to work in adverse weather conditions (e.g., heat, cold, rain, wind, etc.).
- This position is considered "mission critical" and employee will be subject to recall for emergencies, inclement weather or storms.
- This position requires a pre-appointment physical examination, meet established requirements and respiratory fit test for respirator use.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Facilities Maintenance Supervisor without more than normal supervision. Ability to lead or supervise. Independently carry-out a wide variety of supervisory tasks to include supervision of maintenance workers. Transmitting instructions into working assignments or tasks for assigned workers and setting the pace for work accomplishments, and explaining and instructing others of same or lower grades to keep work progressing to meet schedules. Inspecting, accepting or rejecting work of others, and having experience in journey level tasks in maintenance, plumbing, carpentry, electrical work, boilers, chillers, fire alarm systems and HVAC. Developing performance standards, advising on administrative matters, EEO, and training needs. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Efforts: Moderate to physical effort required due to the size of the equipment involved. As supervisor, you may have to assist in lifts, carries, and sets up parts and equipment weighing up to 45 pounds, occasionally heavier weights with assistance. Often must supervise employees and inspect repairs from ladders, scaffolding, platforms, and hard-to-reach places requiring bending, kneeling, and stooping. Subject to frequent cramped and awkward positions. Work requires prolonged standing and continuous movement of hands and arms.
Working Conditions: Works inside and outside in all kinds of weather. Subject to sudden temperature changes when checking or working on refrigeration units. There is frequently exposure to dirt, dust, grease, noise, odor, smoke, and possibility of toxic fumes. May be exposed to explosive munitions. Subject to burns, cuts and electric shock. Exposure to prolonged, repeated, or concentrated amounts of refrigerant gases may cause toxic affects to eyes, skin or internal organs. Protective clothing or devices, including uncomfortable respirators or masks are required to mitigate the risk from these conditions. PPE is required daily including safety shoes, safety eye wear, and hearing protection. Other PPE may be required less frequently to address other working conditions, to include safety vests, respirators, hard hats, gloves and more.
