About the Position: This position is located at the Logistics Readiness Center (LRC), U.S. Military Academy, West Point. Located in the scenic Hudson River valley, only 50 miles from New York City, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point is a four-year academic institution, a nationally-renowned historic site, and the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. The undergraduates, known as cadets, are commissioned as officers in the US Army upon graduation.
Duties
Inspect contractor's performance at owner's residence and at warehouse during packaging, packing, crating, loading, unloading, uncrating and unpacking.
Generate Daily Inspection Schedule for the purposes of establishing Inspection requirements for the day/week.
Process Inbound/Outbound Inspection Data through the Defense Personal Property System (DPS) and other required systems.
Report and/or resolve a wide variety of problems onsite in conjunction with the move, including halting work or notifying supervisor and Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) in cases of non-compliance.
Provide counseling and assistance on a variety of transportation services to personnel and their families ensuring the customer understands the contractor and customer responsibilities in connection with the shipment of their personal property.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a valid Government vehicle operation certificate within 30 days of employment.
- This position may require the incumbent to work overtime on short notice to include nights, holidays and weekends.
- This position may require the incumbent to work various hours to include holidays, weekends, or on-call duty.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Providing counseling of transportation services to personnel and families; (2) Performing personal property/Household Goods (HHGs) inspections ensuring that regulations/policies are being adhered to; (3) Utilizing automated systems to input and/or extract information to prepare reports.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-06).

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Transportation, Business, Logistics or another related field of study. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
