You will serve as a INTERDISCIPLINARY SOCIAL WORKER/PSYCHOLOGIST in the Substance Abuse Counseling Center (SACC) of MCAS BEAUFORT SC.
Duties
You will serve as the clinical counselor for the Substance Abuse Counseling Center (SACC), Marine and Family Programs, Marine Corps Community Services and work under the overall supervision of the SACC Director and/or Clinical Supervisor.
You will perform a variety of professional tasks related to substance use disorder treatment planning, community referrals and consultations, and in-service training.
You will conducts screenings and assessments; therapeutic counseling and education for active duty military and other eligible personnel; develops, in conjunction with the SACC Director and appropriate staff, advocacy and outreach services.
You will coordinate with community referral resources in the development of specific treatment programs.
You will independently devise workable treatment plans (e.g., individual counseling, family counseling, referral for in client treatment, etc.) and provide direct treatment using a wide variety of techniques for the resolution.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- Must be able to possess a Substance Abuse Certification required through passing a proctored exam, from a state or nationally accredited certifying body.
- You must have a qualifying master’s degree in a behavioral health discipline and independent licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
- You must consent to a criminal history background investigation.
Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience providing thorough assessment, counseling, and consultation services to clients who present for care with substance use risk factors and/or disorders;
Experience independently devising workable treatment plans (e.g., individual counseling, family counseling, referral for in client treatment, etc.) AND
Experience providing direct treatment using a wide variety of techniques for the resolution of personal, social, or environmental difficulties related to substance use disorders.

Basic Requirements for Social Worker (0185):
- Must have successfully completed a degree in Social Work that fulfills all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. OR,
- Must have successfully completed a master's degree in Social Work with practicum.
Basic Requirements for Psychologist (0180):
Degree: major or equivalent in psychology for all specializations except clinical psychology and counseling psychology. These two specializations have additional educational requirements, as stated below:
- Must have completed all requirements for the doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology. OR,
- Must have completed 2 full academic years of graduate study directly related to professional work in counseling psychology, or satisfactory completion in an accredited educational institution of all the requirements for a master's degree directly related to counseling psychology.
In lieu of specialized experience listed in the Qualifications section, applicants may qualify based on education OR equivalent combination of experience and education as follows:
- Have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. OR
- Have successfully completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. OR
- Have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
