This position is located in the Near Eastern Affairs & South and Central Asian Affairs Executive Office (NEA-SCA/EX). The incumbent serves as a Staff Assistant on the immediate staff of the Executive Director. The incumbent works closely with the Executive Director (equivalent level to Deputy Assistant Secretary) and performs duties consistent with support required by the Executive Director.
Duties
Provides a wide range of program and administrative support for the Near Eastern Affairs & South and Central Asian Affairs Executive Office (NEA-SCA/EX).
Advises on various administrative policies, procedures, and requirements.
Reviews correspondence for proper format, consistency, grammatical accuracy, completeness and clarity; advises personnel of overdue action items, upcoming deadlines, priority of issues, format, and workflow procedures.
Coordinates all travel arrangements for the Executive Director on all official trips; assists in scheduling meetings and related duties.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Incumbent will be subject to random drug testing.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
Qualifications

NOTE: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements, by the closing date of this announcement.
Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F.
Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience identifying issues related to workflow and efficiency of organizational operations to make recommendations to senior leadership.
Experience facilitating formal meetings to include planning itineraries/programs and preparing travel arrangements.
Experience ensuring timely flow of information and effective communication between an Executive office and other offices.
There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-12 position.
