The Information Receptionist will help manage the entrance of the facility. The Information Receptionist will greet, assist, and offer information to those entering the Facility. The Information Receptionist will also screen Veterans, visitors, and staff, restricting entrance to the facility, should the need arise (COVID, infectious outbreak, disaster, etc).
Duties
Duties and responsibilities include:
Provides a positive welcoming message and courteous, helpful service to arriving and departing patients, visitors, and G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center staff.
Provides accurate and timely responses to both telephone and face-to-face requests for information and directions.
Assist with locating staff, bus information, taxi information, and other general information. Directs Veterans, family members and other visitors to the appropriate office or service within the facility.
Monitors access location and maintains a safe and sterile environment within the facility (i.e., wiping patient chairs, wheelchairs, etc.).
Responds to all telephone calls using positive, customer friendly telephone etiquette always utilizing a salutation, identifying self and location. Provides accurate and timely responses to request for information and directions.
Provides consistent communication with all individuals in a friendly, compassionate, respectful and courteous manner.
Directs Veteran's, patients and visitors to the appropriate locations within the facility. Accompanies guests to the appropriate location as needed.
Provides a positive, welcoming message and courteous, helpful service to arriving and departing patients, visitors and staff.
Provides follow-up to patients and visitors leaving the facility by inquiring if their questions and needs have been addressed during their appointment or other business at the facility.
Supports the facility's mission, vision, goals and value by reflecting an enthusiasm demeanor and positive attitude at all times.
Locates appointment information for patients using computer-based systems.
Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems.
Maintains patient confidentiality containing sensitive data.
Duties as assigned by management.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, subject to change based on the needs of the facility

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/28/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-04 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-03. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
General Experience: You must have one year of general experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-03 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of general experience would typically include, but are not limited to progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work such that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. This general experience includes performing work such as preparing correspondence, answering phones, filing items, and processing mail. NOTE: This experience must be supported by your resume to be creditable and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week. OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed 2 years above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. Transcripts must be submitted at time of application. Education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. NOTE: Transcripts must be submitted with your application materials. Education cannot be credited without documentation. OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond post-high school education (in excess of the first 30 semester hours (beyond the first year)) and specialized experience as described above, which meet the total experience requirements for this grade level. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the first year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. NOTE: Transcripts must be submitted with your application materials. Education cannot be credited without documentation. Experience must be clearly indicated in your resume.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements: The regular and recurring work of the position involves sitting, standing, and walking as much as 70% of the time. There may be the pushing of wheelchairs, carrying of light items such as papers and books. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
