This position is located in Everglades National Park, in the Cultural Resources Division-South Florida Collections Management Center.

Duties
The position serves as the archivist for the South Florida Collections Management Center (SFCMC), which is a multi-park museum program for Big Cypress National Preserve, De Soto National Memorial, and Biscayne, Dry Tortugas, and Everglades National Parks. The center coordinates the acquisition and preservation of museum and archive collections, which support research and park interpretive needs. Although located inside Everglades National Park, the SFCMC provides long-term museum planning for all five National Park Service units in south Florida.
Evaluates all records, archival, and manuscript collections using records management guidelines and scope of collections statement and recommends specific non-official records for inclusion in museum collection.
Accessions appropriate collections into archival collections. Researches collection provenance, original order, series components, document formats, processes, creators, authenticity, topical content data, legal status, and legal validity of access restrictions and ownership history. Recommends inappropriate collections for deaccessions following established policies.
Surveys records in a variety of storage facilities and structures and writes collection-level survey descriptions. Arranges archival collections and creates, edits, and indexes folder lists, box/container lists.
Enters descriptive archival information into an electronic database and produces finding aids and repository-level guides. Distributes these documents and publications to appropriate libraries, archives, and related research repositories.
Qualifications
All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-12/01/2023-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement.
Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 for each federal position listed as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of qualifying experience that you will be granted. An award SF-50 will not be acceptable documentation for which to consider your amount of qualifying experience. For all other applicants who are not current federal employees, your resume must state either "full-time" (or "40 hours a week") or "part-time" with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. Failure to adequately provide information needed to determine number of hours worked in each position may result in that time not being credited when evaluating qualifying experience.
For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected.
To qualify for this position at the GS-11 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
Basic Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in archival science or bachelor's degree with a major that includes 18 semester hours in archival science, history and/or in political science or government, and 12 semester hours in one or any combination of the following: archival science, history, American civilization, economics, political science, public administration, or government.
or
Combination of education and experience - at least 30 semester hours that included courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
In addition to the above, applicants must also possess:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: 1) Appraise records against organization's records management schedule 2) conduct archival processing and cataloging utilizing professional archival theory and methodologies; 3) Survey archival records, develop archival hierarchy, and create processing plans; 4) Use a relational database to catalog archival records in order to produce an archival finding aid or other access tool 5) Utilize archival tools and storage materials in order to ensure long term preservation of archival collections; 6) Identify and recommend archival collections for conservation treatment. You must include hours per week worked.

EDUCATION: 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. You must include transcripts.

Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. To combine education and experience, first take education percentage. Then take the number of months of full time experience and divide by 12 months. Add the percentages together. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. You must include transcripts.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an
accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.

education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
