About the Position: This Physical Scientist is located at U.S. Army Dugway Proving Ground (DPG), West Desert Test Center Office of the WDTC Director with duty location of Dugway Proving Ground Tooele, Utah.
The U.S. Army Dugway Proving Ground (DPG) executes efficient testing and support to enable our nation's defenders to counter chemical, biological, radiological, and explosives (CBRE) hazards.
Duties
Serves as a physical scientist for the Chemical Analytical Branch within the Chemical Test Division.
Serves as a technical contracting representative for analytical instruments.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the employee to meet and maintain the requirements of AR 50-6 for enrollment in the Chemical Personnel Reliability Program (CPRP).
- This position requires the employee to occasionally travel away from the normal duty station up to 25% of the time.
- Position requires the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as a mask (M-50), respirator, gloves, suits, and lab coat.
- Position requires obtaining and maintaining a valid driver's license.
- Position may have to work some nights and weekends to meet mission needs.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance through the duration of your employment.
- The incumbent of this position must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- This position requires a pre-employment and annual physical examination.

Basic Education Requirement for Physical Scientist (1301 Series):
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
OR
B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to one of the majors, as shown in A above, that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience involves: 1. maintenance, operations and method developments of analytical field referee instruments for processes such as application of sampling technology, analyzing toxic industrial chemicals/chemical agents, aerosol generation and decontamination; AND 2. Communicating technical test parameters and design with an interdisciplinary team.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
