About the Position: This position is located in Director for Administration, Department of Logistics, performing maintenance on one-of-a-kind medical equipment, custom medical equipment, developmental medical equipment, or medical equipment which is continually being modified and adapted and may lack adequate documentation. Personal Protective Equipment will be provided as required for specific jobs. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Install complex medical equipment and/or systems to include: standalone equipment and/or components that contain integrated circuitry and/or microprocessors. Ensure that cabling such as fiber optics are functioning, and capable of interfacing with hardware (modalities). Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, overhaul, etc. based on guidance. Provide technical advice on mechanical engineering concepts to project manager. Coordinate with doctors, nurses, medical technicians, medical equipment manufacturers to ensuring compliance of setup. Technical advisor to clinical staff for technical reviews of equipment considering needs. Provide advice and assistance in equipment selection application, care, and operation. Compute requirements associated with mechanical systems. Conducts preventive maintenance checks and services (PM) inspections of medical equipment. Develop, document, and facilitate PM procedures for equipment determining schedule of preventive maintenance. Makes recommendations to change manufacturer provided documentation to correct errors. Investigate complaints from customers to resolve discrepancies.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work on any day or shift, including PMs, nights, weekends, holidays, or on an "on call" basis, necessary to meet mission requirements.
  • This position has been designated 'Mission Essential'. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience and/or education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience at the next lower level or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level in the Federal service which includes installing and/or servicing medical/dental diagnostic imaging equipment such as: sterilizer, low capacity radiographic (x-ray) equipment, dialysis equipment, electrical beds or basic laboratory equipment; performing troubleshooting of electronic components or medical equipment problems; and providing training and/or guidance to other technicians. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08) OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
