You will serve as a Security Specialist in the Deputy Commandant (DC), Manpower and Reserve Affairs (M&RA), Headquarters, United States Marine Corps (HQMC).

Duties

You will oversee and support programs and implementation of protective measures that ensure mission accomplishment and enhance the security of facilities and their contents in compliance with regulations, directives, and policies. You will analyze threats in the applicable physical security functional area. You will be responsible for the management of the Physical Security System (PSS). You will ensure organizational compliance with physical security requirements. You will be responsible for the research and development/acquisition and implementation of long-term Physical Security Plans for upgrading facilities throughout MCB Quantico. You will perform diagnostics, conducts basic maintenance on, and submits requests for repair/resolution of electronic security system. You will identify critical assets, threats and vulnerabilities, and mitigation strategies to arrive at an acceptable level of risk throughout a physical security program.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate duties related to the following: 1) Overseeing physical security program to enhance organizational security programs to enhance organizational security and compliance with regulations; 2) Leading the development of long-term security plans and the management of electronic security systems to protect organizations assets, while assessing and mitigating security risk; 3) Managing security clearance requirements, classified information access, and security training for personnel to ensure readiness and compliance; 4) Developing and implementing operational security (OPSEC) programs, maintaining OPSEC policies, and monitoring for security breaches on public facing platforms. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Successful completion of Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

OR

Successful completion of 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

OR

Possession of an LL.M., if related

OR

A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience
