This position serves as a Supply Technician located at the Jesse Brown VAMC, Chicago, IL. The incumbent is responsible to assure that adequate supplies are on hand to provide prosthetic equipment to patients.
Duties
Major Duties:
-Maintains stock at clinical areas located throughout the medical center for non-recurring clinical prosthetic items.
-Pulls stock inventory and material from delivery, replenishing stock inventory, and maintaining records on stock inventory.
-Monitors expiration dates, rotates stock, and identifies recalled items and hazard alerts.
-Performs routine inventory checks by using bar coding equipment.
-Delivers supplies in a timely and accurate manner.
-Keeps assigned inventory areas clean in accordance with infection control guidelines, local Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs), and Joint Commission standards as scheduled.
-Supports wall-to-wall and periodic inventories.-Receives supplies and materials for Prosthetics and supported catchment area.
-Pulls from inventory and stock issue in the VISTA system.
-Places orders using the VISTA software package, IFCAP, and purchase cards.
-Processes incoming/outgoing mail including express mail.
-Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 12/08/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-05 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-04. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience GS- 5: You must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade, GS- 4, level in Federal service that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience includes, but is not limited to: Knowledge of stock level and inventory control procedures. Knowledge of stock items in order to advise and assist staff and patients with set up and use. Knowledge of supply accountability rules and regulations to correctly process paperwork and equipment handling to avoid accidents and injury. Familiar with Prosthetic VISTA software, IFCAP, and Prosthetic Inventory Package (PIP) software. OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you mut have successfully completed 4 years of education above the high school level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED) OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have equivalent combinations of creditable specialized experience and education as described to meet the total requirements for this position. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

Physical Requirements: Work involves exertion such as: frequently lifting and carrying light to medium weight objects (10 to 30 pounds) and continually walking, bending, stooping and reaching. Upon receipt of inventory incumbent will push loaded carts, store and issue items in crowded quarters while handling some awkward, hard to handle items
