You will serve as a SUPERVISORY POLICE OFFICER (ACCIDENT INVESTIGATOR) in the Provost Marshal Office/Marine Corps Police Department of MCLB ALBANY GA.
Duties
You will ensure all Police Accident Reports are complete to include identifying, locating and interviewing all witnesses/suspects, and documents statements in accordance with (IAW) appropriate regulations.
You will identify developmental and training needs for assigned personnel, consult with specialists on those needs, and recommend training solutions related to the employees supervised.
You will respond to traffic accidents occurring on the command; investigate, supervise the scene, and/or direct all events that transpire by reviewing statements taken, interview witnesses, interrogate suspects, and reconstruct the scene as needed.
You will prepare reports relating to criminal and civilian security hazards, complaints and witness statements for use in future legal proceedings and investigations.
You will testify as required in Military Court Martial or Federal court proceedings; compile evidence IAW mandated procedures; and control all vehicular and pedestrian access at exterior gates.
You will prepare charts, graphs, slides and take photos for presentations for various offices on installation.
You will be responsible for resolving complaints from Accident Investigators; provide advice, counsel or instruction to Accident Investigators related to accident investigation, police work and administrative concerns.
You will coordinate base traffic surveys of traffic problem areas and monitor them to maintain up-to-date statistics on accidents for traffic enforcement/control programs.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen. Must be determined suitable for federal employment. Must participate in the direct deposit pay program. Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service. You must be 18 years of age.

- The DON does not employ individuals for Law Enforcement Officer positions who have been convicted of a crime of domestic violence on or after 27 November 2002. You must submit DD Form 2760, Qualification to Possess Firearms before appointment.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination. You will be required to pass sanctioned physical agility test and medical evaluation and pass periodic re-tests as required.
- You will be subject to shift work; subject to 24-hour recall and will maintain a 24-hour recall notification number. Overtime may be required.
- You will be required to pass all weapons qualifications prior to assigned duties and responsibility and must pass all re-qualifications as required. You will be required to carry a FIrearm.
- You must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license and be able to maintain a U.S. Government emergency vehicle operator's license.
- This is a Department of Navy drug testing designated position. You will be required to undergo pre-employment urinalysis requirements and sustainment drug testing.
- The position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.
- This is a Mission Essential position.
- You will be required to wear a uniform and maintain appearance and grooming standards per Marine Corps Orders/policies.
- Must maintain program height and weight appearance standards; must meet medical standards for police officers in DoD 6055.05M and NMCPHC-TM OM 6260.
- This position does not meet the definition of law enforcement officer (LEO) and is excluded from coverage as LEO for purposes of the Federal Employment Retirement System-Base Annuity IAW 5 CFR, Part 842, Subpart H
- Must satisfactorily pass the Police Applicant Suitability Review (PASR) investigation.

GS-10: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Planning, directing, training, and managing police officer and accident investigator operations; establishing accident investigator training, and procedures; and performing inspection and investigating work to effect compliance of individuals with laws, rules, and regulations in the protection of life, property, and the civil rights of citizens.
GS-09: .Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Screening, evaluating, training, and managing police officer and accident investigator operations; maintaining and evaluating accident investigator training, and procedures; and performing inspection and ensuring compliance of individuals with laws, rules, and regulations in the protection of life, property, and the civil rights of citizens.
