You will serve as a TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANT (OA) in the DISTRIBUTION MANAGEMENT OFFICE of the SUPPLY DEPARTMENT of MARINE CORPS BASE HAWAII.

Duties

You will provide counseling on entitlements for household goods, privately owned vehicles shipments, storage and accessorial services for Temporary Additional Duty (TAD) assignment, and Permanent Change of Station (PCS) assignments. You will arrange all official travel to various CONUS, OCONUS and overseas destinations for eligible military, civilian personnel and their dependents. You will verify legal entitlements and official authorization for travel. You will provide counseling on transportation entitlements/allowances, travel responsibilities, custom restrictions, and the requirements for possession and proper use of transportation requests. You will determine travel modes, routing, travel itineraries, and cost of domestic and overseas transportation that is “Best Value” for the government and satisfactorily meets the travel requirements. You will recommend mode of shipment, storage, special packing requirements, identify items of extraordinary value, the quantity of professional equipment and books, establish pickup dates, destination, and the arrival date for delivery of shipment. You will compile all documents required for shipment of household goods (HHG) and forwards them to Joint Personal Property Shipping Office (JPPSO) Pearl Harbor, Hawaii for processing and scheduling of pickup dates.

Requirements

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing passenger or personal property transportation or travel services (e.g. arranging coordinating official travel, permanent change of duty stations, or shipment or storage of household goods and vehicle; processing of Passport and/or Visa applications) in accordance with law, rules, and regulations. Education

In lieu of general/specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

One full year of graduate level education that is directly related to the position being filled.

OR

A combination of graduate level education and experience.
