This position is located at the Sheridan VA Medical Center in Sheridan, Wyoming and is aligned under Facilities Management Service.
Duties
Major duties include but not limited to:
-Responsible for the Linen Distribution program for the Department Veterans Affairs Sheridan VA Health Care System.
-Functions as a Textile Control Manager within the Facilities Management Service and has fully supervisory responsibility for control over work situations and subordinates in this section.
-Plans and schedules daily, weekly, and monthly work schedules and assignments for employees supervised.
-Plan on a quarterly or longer basis the overall use of subordinate personnel and other resources under their control.
-Determine resource requirements, materials, and the number of subordinates and the types of skill necessary to accomplish long-range work schedules.
-Establishes deadlines and priorities based on general work schedules, methods, and procedures of the team.
-Determines how many assignments can be done concurrently or which must be delayed; the number of employees required to accomplish the work, and the availability of machinery, materials, and associated equipment needed.
-Responsible for the maintenance, storage and safeguard of Laundry Plant equipment, textile materials, and supplies for his/her area of assignment.
-Conducts Quality Assurance sanitation inspections and takes appropriate steps to correct deficiencies.
-Coordinates the repair of equipment and monitors the scheduled maintenance of equipment performed by Facility Management Service.
-Conducts annual linen inventory for the facility, entering data on the Central Office format which reflects not only current inventory, but our facility loss rate, salvage, and new linen received.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Incumbent will be exposed to repetitive motion of arms, wrist, and hands and is required to perform simple grasping and fine hand manipulation, reaching outward and above the shoulder, lift soiled linen bags up and onto soiled linen carts and frequent stooping, bending, twisting and kneeling, standing, walking, sitting. Subjected to long periods of standing. Incumbent must be able to lift and carry fifty (50) pounds. Must be able to stand and walk consistently, perform light to moderate bending and stooping, and able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for extended periods as dictated by the work setting. Incumbent is able to load and unload commercial-type dryer/tumblers, steam heated garment finisher, commercial-type washer/extractors and continuous batch washers.
