This position, located at the Oklahoma City Health Care System Facilities Management Service, has journeyman responsibilities in the painting and paper hanging trades and determines the methods and techniques, devices, and materials necessary to do the complete job.
Duties
Major duties of this position includes but are not limited to....
Prepares surfaces for painting by scraping, hand and machine sanding, wire brushing, masking, dusting, applying paint remover, taping and bedding, filing cracks and nails holes, etc.
Prepares coating materials by tinting, toning, matching, blending, staining, and mixing in various additives
Paints indoor and outdoor surfaces such as metal, wood, sheetrock, concrete, plaster, etc.
Maintains and keeps orderly all equipment, tools and area occupied by the equipment that pertain to the work of the position
Prepares surfaces for paper hanging by sanding, scraping, and sizing as specified for material to be applied
Applies trades and practice for hanging the paper, vinyl, etc., incorrect manner by measuring and matching patterns as required
Uses accepted methods which includes special finishing techniques such as marbling and graining by using coating materials that are prepared in special as well as common ways
Uses standard tools and equipment such as brushes, rollers, spray guns, trowels, screeds, straight edges, viscosity testers, graining devices, and wet and other thickness gauges
Determines the methods, techniques, devices and materials that are best suited to the surface finish required using a glossy finish, grained effect, or a finish that must meet specified thickness and levels
Performs other duties as assigned
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 3:00pm-11:30pm

Physical Requirements: The work requires frequently handling heavy materials and parts weighing in excess of 45 pounds. Physical or muscular effort in performing duties includes fatigue producing actions such as painting overhead, pulling, pushing, stooping and working in cramped positions. Employee must work in an area with unpleasant fumes and thus wear a face mask to prevent injury or illness due to fumes and dust. Must work on ladders and scaffolds
