This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, USCG Finance Center, Accounting Operations Division in Chesapeake, VA.
Duties
As a Lead Accounting Technician, this position provides accounting support for the more complex accounts which may involve a large number of organizations and programs, and/or which require analyses and accounting determinations within a complete accounting system.Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. - U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- The position requires a valid state driver's license.
- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- This position requires a Minimum Background Investigation (MBI).
Qualifications
At the GS-08 Level: Applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
Specialized experience includes:
Distributing and balancing the workload and maintaining awareness of work status, progress, and priorities;
Keeping required work records and production reports, instructing employees in specific tasks, and providing on-the-job training when needed;
Providing input to the supervisor on employee performance, training needs, and disciplinary problems.
National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
