Electronics Mechanic is located in the Facility Management Service at the Jerry L. Pettis Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Loma Linda, CA. The Electronics Mechanic installs, modifies, overhauls, maintains, troubleshoots, and repair complex integral components which require knowledge of a wide range of electronics principles and practices.

Duties

Duties include, but may not be limited to the following: Troubleshoots, repairs, or modifies electronics systems: such as Land Mobile Radio Systems (LMRS), Master Antenna Distribution Systems, Fire Alarm and Suppression Systems, Patient Nurse Call Systems, Code-Blue Paging Systems, Closed-Circuit Television Camera Systems (CCTCS), Card Reader Security System, and Electro-Pneumatic Tube Systems. Researches and orders parts, technical manuals, and accessories to expedite repair of the Vital Life Safety Equipment throughout the hospital. Maintains records and issue radios to staff. Conducts preventative maintenance service (PMS). Works with contractors and Information Technology (IT) to programming and updating the system. Prepare scopes of work quarterly and yearly PM of the system. Works with contractors to programming and updating the system. Monitors of the Fire Alarm and Suppression Systems daily. Monitors and programs the Nurse Call System. Installs, monitors, and programs the Code-Blue Paging Systems. Troubleshoots, repairs, or modifies Closed-Circuit Television Camera Systems. Troubleshoots, repairs, or modifies Card Reader Security System. Conducts preventative maintenance service (PMS) Electro-Pneumatic Tube Systems. Prepare scopes of work quarterly and yearly PM of the system. Works with contractors to programming and updating the system. Monitors Electro-Pneumatic Tube Systems daily. Performs other related duties. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm (Swing Shift) Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Physical Requirements: Work assignments require the use of light to moderate physical effort. Employees must frequently lift, carry, or otherwise handle items weighing up to 50 pounds. Occasionally, items weighing more than 40 pounds must be handled. Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, stooping, and working on ladders in high places for extended periods of time is required. Working Conditions: Work is usually performed inside a well-lighted, heated, and ventilated area. On occasion, it is necessary to perform duties in less comfortable areas; such as the boiler plant, basement, and rooftop areas. Work is also conducted in highly visible, crowded areas, where worker and patient safety must be exercised. Employee is required to wear uniforms and protective clothing when exposed to patients and areas that are contaminated or designated as clean areas. Employees are subject to injuries such as, electric shocks, cuts, bruises, and bums.
