You will serve as a SECURITY GUARD in the NAVY INSTALLATIONS COMMAND OPERATIONS (N3) of DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY. Salary range - Point Loma, San Diego and Coronado, CA GS-5: $42,714 - $55,534 per annum GS-6: $47,616 - $61,897 per annum Salary range - Seal Beach, CA GS-5: $43,646 - $56,746 per annum GS-6: $48,655 - $63,247 per annum

Duties

You will check credentials of personnel or vehicles to control access to base posts, buildings, private property, or restricted areas. You will operate hand-held two-way communications devices and electronic scanners while completing security work assignments. You will access a personal identification system to issue vehicle passes and identification badges. You will interview persons to obtain or verify information related to suspicious persons or activity.

• This position is considered Key/Non-Combat Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support of the expeditionary requirements in other than combat or combat support situations.

• You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• Required to carry firearms or other weapons authorized for their specific jurisdictions (I.E., applicable Navy, Federal and State certifications).
• Required to wear a uniform and comply with grooming standards in accordance with Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) directives.
• Required to receive training on the use of oleoresin capsicum (OC) spray (pepper spray) in a controlled training environment, to include the experience of receiving the spray to the facial area.
• Successfully complete/pass required CNIC directed Navy Security Forces Training Course, as well as reoccurring training requirements.

Qualifications

GS-05: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-04) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector 1) Physically examining identification for access to restricted areas; 2) Assisting with regulating pedestrian and vehicular traffic to maintain traffic flow and security operations; 3) Monitoring personnel access into restricted areas; and 4) Preforming private and commercial vehicle inspections.
