The Utility System Repairer Operator Leader is responsible to lead the service and installation of multiple utility systems, including much of the construction to support the installation of equipment. This lead is a member of the Building Facilities Department within the Engineering Service and is primarily responsible for major renovations at the Medical Center and USRO members provide a vast amount of knowledge and breadth of service to enable complete renovations for healthcare.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Uses their advanced skill obtained through training and experience to lead the lnhouse Construction team activities.
Coordinates with supervisor to ensure proper, current technical data are available.
Maintains compliance with all VA Directives for Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, and other building systems.
Must stay apprised of all current construction codes, means, methods, equipment, and materials for the current state of the practice.
Monitors, evaluates, and reports the overall progress for projects and tasks, and will take corrective action as necessary to ensure the projects are completed as intended.
Conveys instructions from the Supervisor to unit workers to initiate work by designating assignments and tasks to the appropriate members.
Must be aware of the tasks, equipment, materials, and methods needed to ensure project goals are attained using the approved budget for resources and supplies and delivers the tasks within the intended deadline.
Uses blueprints and building plans to arrange the materials, tools, and resources to complete assigned projects and tasks.
Responsible for obtaining tools, supplies, equipment, and other resources as required to complete the assignments.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: The work requires frequent, considerable, and strenuous physical exertion such as lifting heavy objects over 50 pounds; long periods of standing, walking or hazardous terrain and environment; crouching or crawling in restrictive areas; and climbing ladders, walls and accessing other hard to reach areas.
