Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-12. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
As a/an Support Services Specialist, you will:
Plan or assist with coordinating a variety of office functions such as, but not limited to telecommunications, procurement of supplies and equipment, printing, facilities management, security, property management, records management, mail service, facilities, and equipment maintenance, safety and health services programs and transportation.
Provide advice and assistance to managers, supervisors, and employees on certain aspects of administrative and management matters; devise and implement new systems; perform studies; and review operations.
Participate in the implementation and program goal setting activities for Regional/Field Offices and on project teams nationwide to review and/or development policy, procedures, and activities or carry out initiatives and programs.
Make recommendations on administrative programs and procedures to Regional/Field office personnel along with researching and assisting in the implementation of administrative instructions and procedures for use across Regional/Field Office for resources and employee/administrative support.
May assist the Regional Support Manager (RSM)/Administrative Officer (AO) and the Project Management Division with coordinating physical moves and space reconfiguration projects to ensure all aspects of the project are implemented properly, which may include maintaining analytical and statistical records.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-12 grade level, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
Providing authoritative advice and recommendations on records management programs and telecommute programs; AND
Providing technical guidance to internal and external stakeholders on records management programs and telecommute programs; AND
Interpreting and applying regulations and agency policies to resolve a variety of administrative related issues.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-11 grade level, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
Working with vendors and/or contractors for procuring supplies and other office products; AND
Utilizing computer skills for creating and developing word documents, spreadsheets, etc.; AND
Establishing and maintaining working relationships with stakeholders, staff, and outside contractors
OR Education: You may substitute education for general or specialized experience as follows: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.M., if related;
OR Combination: You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the specialized experience requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the education requirement must equal at least 100 percent.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-9 grade level, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
Working with vendors and/or contractors for procuring supplies and other office products; AND
Utilizing computer skills for creating and developing word documents, spreadsheets, etc.
OR Education: You may substitute education for general or specialized experience as follows: Master's or equivalent graduate degree; or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related.;
OR Combination: You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the specialized experience requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the education requirement must equal at least 100 percent.
Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Education
The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. If you are qualifying based on foreign education, you must submit proof of creditability of education as evaluated by a credentialing agency. Refer to the
