NASA's Glenn Research Center (GRC) is seeking a highly qualified candidate to serve as the Power and Propulsion Element (PPE) Integration Lead within the Science and Space Technology Systems Branch. In this role, you will maintain an integrated understanding of the flight system, technical content, and insight efforts across all engineering areas.

Duties

Duties described below are at the full-performance level. Duties assigned at a lower grade level will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee. Plans and coordinates timely resolution of flight system, payload, hardware, and/or software interface/integration topics as needed. Maintains understanding of flight system and flight vehicle-related technical products and results, coordinating across disciplines where cross-discipline insight or independent verification and validation is performed. Leads planning, coordination, and management of the integrated review and technical vetting of flight system technical product deliverables. Engages with prime contractor on technical efforts and inter-dependencies with insight efforts. Captures technical recommendations and reports them to project technical leadership. Coordinates and develops engineering technical content required to support the COR for contract actions/modifications. Requirements

  • Current Federal employees must meet qualifications, time in grade, and 90 days after competitive appointment requirements by the closing date of the announcement

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Education Requirement (in the Education section below), to qualify for this position you must meet the requirements below and have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, which has equipped you with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above. NASA utilizes OPM-approved qualification and rating requirements specific for Aerospace Technology (AST) positions which recognizes NASA's unique aerospace work. The specific qualifications and minimum education requirements are further described below and within the education section of the job announcement. To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level: Assisting with analyzing, designing, or implementing space and/or aeronautical flight systems capabilities to meet vehicle design or operational requirements; Coordinating testing, verification, and certification for space flight systems; Supporting issue resolution related to flight vehicle system development, operation, system performance, configuration, operational capabilities, reliability, or safety. To qualify for GS-14, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level: Partnering with prime contractors responsible for the development and integration of flight systems; Coordinating the work of a group of engineers engaged in the systems engineering and integration development or validation of space flight systems; Planning and managing the review, vetting of flight system product deliverables, and preparing content for engineering review boards. Education

Basic Education Requirement: You must have successfully completed a bachelor's degree with a major in one of the following:
a) Engineering from a college or university that has ABET accredited engineering programs
b) Physical Science, Mathematics, Life Science or other field of Science
c) Computer Science that included 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours of course work in any combination of mathematics, statistics and computer science with at least half of those hours in mathematics and statistics courses that included differential and integral calculus.

If you did not complete a qualifying bachelor's degree, you may be eligible if you have obtained a graduate degree in an AST qualifying field, as listed above.

Degrees in engineering technology are not considered qualifying for this position.
