You will serve as an Ecologist in the Environmental Affairs Installation Support Directorate of MARINE CORPS AIR GROUND COMBAT CTR.

GS 12 pay setting: 95,905-124,677
Duties
You will use a wide variety of ecological principles and procedures to solve complex problems involving ecological issues.
You will develop and supervise implementation of policies and requirements, goals, and objectives.
You will determine the needs and establish Natural Resources Section goals, objectives, and priorities; schedule the commitment of resources to complete this work.
You will pursue and obtain the resources necessary to develop new technologies and implement them in new acquisition and maintenance programs.
You will be responsible for the assessment, maintenance, and long-term productivity of the base's natural resources.
You will interact with ongoing environmental protection programs and coordinate the Command's participation in natural resources protection to reduce losses to these resources from on and off base sources.
You will supervise, assign projects and work, review results for completeness, and provide comments and guidance on results.
You will analyze existing policies and practices in light of current ecological information and recommend adjustments in management policy and practice to enhance the maintenance and productivity of the living resources consistent with mission.
You will serve as a subject matter expert on all relevant natural resources policies, laws, and environmental regulatory requirements.
You will represent the Command on natural resources issues during negotiations with regulatory agencies to establish achievable and timely compliance schedules for all required actions.

Qualifications
GS-12
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Developing Ecosystem research plans, habitat environmental monitoring, and ecological studies; 2) Designing ecosystem initiatives to support agency mission; 3) Managing environmental projects; and 4) Executing profesisonal and scientific analyses to consult federal and state regulators.

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) overseeing the collecting of data, monitoring habitat or other environmental perameters or research; 2) Implementing or reviewing natural resource management plans and compliance; 3) Assisting with providing timely reports to command; and 4) Identifying ecological program goals and objectives.
