Duties

Monitors telecommunication systems operations. Use computerized test equipment to analyze, correct, and transmit data to their proper destinations. Maintain work logs documenting course of action. Provide assistance to end users and resolves standard operating problems for both voice and data communications. Make recommendations to supervisor regarding more complex problems. Survey, plan and prioritize work orders and assigned tasks for completion. Track incoming/outgoing work orders and maintains appropriate entries in logs and records, ensuring that they are legible and accurate Provide support involving transmitting and receiving messages to agencies, activities, etc., that interact or accomplish work with the telecommunications center. Ensure that all classified material is handled in accordance with published guidance, and that established security procedures are followed.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
