About the Position: Serves as a Supervisory Physical Therapist for Soldiers in the Department of Rehabilitation Services on Fort Carson, Colorado.
This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.
This is a TERM position not exceed 3 years. It is time-limited and may be extended beyond six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. This position may be converted to permanent career or career-conditional appointment without further competition as long as all requirements are met.
Duties
Use therapeutic modalities and new integrative techniques and/or technologies for evaluation and ongoing treatment.
Provide evaluation and therapeutic interventions to a full range of wounded, ill, and injured service members.
Design treatment plans to meet patient/clinical objectives.
Develop and implement complex, goal-oriented treatment plans for patients presenting with a multiplicity of dysfunction and impairments in physical, functional and adaptive areas.
Create protocols and standard operating procedures for Physical Therapy programs.
Provide education and consultation on the injury/disease process to patients/family members.
Implement and develop training programs for patients and providers.
Conduct internal personnel administration and management.
Develop and evaluate employee performance standard for annual appraisals.
Establish internal policies in keeping with existing regulations, management principles and clinical ethics.
Requirements
- Childcare Background investigation is required.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment physical examination.
- The position is subject to a pre-employment drug test screening, and random testing.
- This position is an Inclement Weather Essential position.
- This position has a mandatory Hepatitis B immunization and an immunization screening requirement.
- This position requires a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification is required.
- A current, active, valid, and unrestricted license or certification as a Physical Therapy Assistant from a state, the District of Columbia, or a territory
of the United States is required.
- This position requires heavy lifting up to 25 lbs.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
Licensure/Certification: Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physical Therapist from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and must have passed the National Physical Therapy Examination administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT).
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes evaluating physical therapy patients; implementing physical therapy treatment; and overseeing Physical Therapy Assistants, students, or other staff. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
