This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic DIB, MRTFB to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This position is located in the Surveillance Division of the Letterkenny Munitions Center, Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, PA
Duties
Operate powered forklifts to load and unload trucks.
Operate trucks up to 5 ton capacity.
Receive and complete warehousing work assignments through verbal or written work instructions.
Follow specialized handling requirements for inbound and outbound missile related components.
Conduct daily safety checks of material handling equipment to ensure safe operation.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. A Secret clearance is required.
- The applicant must pass a pre-employment physical and subsequent periodic medical examinations in accordance with DoD 6055-5-M. Must be able to lift at least 70 pounds.
- This position is subject to pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter in compliance with the Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Program.
- Ammunition certification in accordance with AMC-R 350-4 is required within one year of appointment.
- Subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment. This act bans individuals convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence and certain others from possession or access to firearms or ammunition.
- This position requires the incumbent to possess or obtain a 50,000 lb forklift license within 30 days of employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) MATERIALS HANDLER (FORKLIFT OPERATOR) ~ without more than normal supervision. - 1) Operating a powered forklift; AND 2) Assisting with receiving and unloading shipments. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work assignments involve standing, climbing, bending, etc., on hard surface and in areas where conditions are cramped. Handles objects weighing up to 70 lbs. and occasionally in excess of 70 lbs. Work assignments also involve the bending, turning, or moving of arms and legs to operate hand and foot controls of a forklift.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside and outside in areas that may be hot, cold, damp, drafty, or poorly lighted. Work is dirty, dusty, and greasy. There is a possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, and injury from falling objects and handling equipment. Vehicles are operated in all types of weather, with the possibility of injury as a result of accident.
Education
Some Federal positions allow the substitution of education for experience. For this position, you must qualify based on experience alone.
