You will serve as a Painter in the Facility and Infrastructure Management Department of FLTREADCEN EAST.
Duties
You will prepare metal surfaces for painting by removing grease, old paint, rust, scale, etc. as necessary, as well as prepare degreasing solutions, and treat metal objects or surfaces to be painted by immersion or washing.
You will prepare wood or drywall surfaces for painting by removing old paint, filling cracks and holes, sanding, and applying fillers and base coats.
You will mix paints and other surfacing materials, and match colors as necessary.
You will paint surfaces with various types of paint, varnish, shellac, lacquer, polyurethane, and enamel, employing brushes, spray painting equipment, or paint rolling equipment, including attached air compressors.
You will operate self-contained, self-propelled abrasive blast cleaning equipment typically used for removal of paint, scale, oil, and grease from horizontal surfaces.
Requirements

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Government Vehicle Operator's permit license.
Qualifications

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

A) I have the ability to independently perform the most difficult and complex tasks as an expert or have been consulted by other employees in difficult situations performing duties including 1) Blending and combining various painting agents to achieve the match the tone and tint required for complex painting assignments 2) Utilizing silicones, sermetal, polyurethane, and other weather resistant materials to coat aircraft surfaces to prevent corrosion 3) Utilizing, maintaining, and repairing paint spraying and sanding equipment 4) Reading and interpreting blueprints and technical directives to evaluate and complete work orders. I am considered an expert and work with a high degree of independence.
