This position is located in Police Services. James A. Haley Healthcare System- Duty Station 673 Tampa, FL. The primary purpose of the position is to monitor physical security equipment and systems.

Duties

Duties include but are not limited to: Performs alarm and access monitoring, tracing access patterns, programming, assigning or removing user permissions. Assess on-scene behavior and determines when it is appropriate to dispatch law enforcement or other personnel to investigate. Monitors emergency weather alerts and transmits warnings system. Maintains radio/alarm activity records/logs to include dates, times, and results of communications and activities and prepares completed reports. Implements policies, procedures, and methods for identifying and protecting information, personnel, property, facilities, operations, or material. Communications between the police dispatch center, agency leadership and the work force. Uses the VA Police Software to research information, complete reports and logs, vehicle registrations. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/24/2023. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at or above the GS-4 grade level or the equivalent in the private sector. Specialized experience is defined as: Performs alarm and access monitoring, trace access patterns, and assign or remove user permissions. Maintains radio/alarm activity records/logs. Effective communications between the police dispatch center, agency leadership and the work force. Operates communication equipment, telephones, computer systems for emergency. Maintains accurate key inventory and database. NOTE: Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. OR, Substitution of Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed four (4) years above high school in any field. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. (Transcripts must be submitted with application.). OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of specialized experience and education beyond an associate's degree. For the GS-05, only education in excess of 60 semester hours (2 years) is creditable. If you qualify by a combination, your experience must be detailed in your resume and transcripts are required. (Transcripts must be submitted with application.) Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position:CommunicationsComputer SkillsManages and Organizes InformationSecurityTechnology Application Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: The work is typically sedentary in nature. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts; etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. Working on off-tours, rotating shifts or regular overtime may be required.
