You will serve as an AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL SPECIALIST (TERMINAL) in the AIRFIELD OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT of ATC DIVISION, MCAS CHERRY POINT.

Duties
You will be responsible for coordination and control all instrument traffic within the facility's are of justification.
You will supervise unqualified controllers on position and in the classroom.
Youl will determine the separation and sequence to be applied between aircraft of various performance characteristics.
You will direct departing aircraft along proper routes through issuance of appropriate headings and altitudes necessary to provide adequate separation from other aircraft and Special Use Airspace.
You will coordinate with adjacent sectors/facilities for use of airspace, military Operating Areas, bombing targets, Warning Areas, Class D Areas, aerial refueling areas, and high speed test areas.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- Air traffic control specialists must possess the facility ratings required at the facility where the position is located. You will be required to maintain a valid Air Traffic Control Specialist and/or Control Tower Operator Certificate.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- You will be required to maintain a current DON ATC Flight Physical certification.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing technical expertise in Air Traffic Control operations to include; Tower Local Control, Tower Ground Control, Radar Approach Control and Ground Controlled Approach services to aircraft; coordinate control of instrument traffic; coordinate and direct control of aircraft; formulate and issue ground movement of aircraft and vehicles, and operate Radar Flight Data Controller.
