This job opportunity is for an IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST, position description NGT5896000/5000 within the 140 COS of the NJ ANG. This vacancy announcement is a Title 5, Excepted Service position.
The primary purpose of the position is to administer the Special Security Office (SSO) and all Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI)-associated security programs and measures and provides detailed research and analysis on physical, information technology, and personnel security.
Duties
As a IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST, GS-2210-11/12, you will:
Administer the Special Security Office (SSO) and all Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI)-associated security programs and measures and provides detailed research and analysis on physical, computer, and personnel security.
Serve as the technical authority on all SCI security matters and all other areas of classified security and classification within the unit.
Administers the SCI security clearance program for all assigned personnel, ensuring all required clearances are up-to-date and completed.
Represent the unit to a variety of installation and functional areas, including national-level organizations.
Serve as the Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) or the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM), dependent upon grade.
Serve as a technical expert and focal point for the installation and configuration of classified hardware and software on personal computers and associated assigned systems.
Serve as a technical expert on multiple classified operating systems and computer platforms.
Analyze, evaluate, and recommend hardware/software changes to various classified computer systems.
Implement system software changes, operating system releases and maintains the operational status of systems.
Implement DAF and ANG policies relating to systems storage requirements.
Install and configure classified workstation or network operating systems, and applications software on a wide range of configurable information systems devices.
Serve as a technical expert and focal point for Information Technology (IT) security and information assurance policies, planning, programs, initiatives, certification and accreditation.
Evaluate and assess vulnerabilities of classified network and application server hardware, operating system software, and peripheral network equipment such as routers, bridges, switches, attached cabling system, network interface cards, modems, multiplexers, and concentrators.
Review national, DOD and other policies, program proposals, operational and strategic plans, and identifies issues requiring tier two actions or inputs.
Analyze equipment and software reliability and suitability for vulnerability assessment utilization.
Determine, develops, and ensures cooperation and coordination with related IA/CND program efforts.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
General Experience: Must Have 36 months of Experience in the following:
Performing data processing functions
Applying general management principles
Using automated work processes
Working as a computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or similar position

Intermediate to Mastery level knowledge of advanced IT cybersecurity, methods, standards, and practices sufficient to develop and interpret policies, procedures, and strategies governing the planning and delivery of services.
Intermediate to Mastery level knowledge of procedures for developing technical and operational support documentation.
Specialized Experience:
GS-11 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-9 grade level in the federal service). Specialized experience includes: conducting systems security evaluations and reviews of policy enforcement practices to ensure secure information systems reliability and accessibility; serve as a technical expert and focal point for the installation and configuration of classified hardware and software; analyze, evaluate, and recommend hardware/software changes to various classified computer systems; possess Information Assurance Management Level 1 Certification.
GS-12 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the federal service). Specialized experience includes: developing procedures and conducting systems security evaluations, audits and reviews of policy enforcement practices to ensure secure information systems reliability and accessibility; serve as a technical expert and focal point for Information Technology (IT) security and information assurance policies, planning, programs, initiatives, certification and accreditation; evaluates and assesses vulnerabilities of classified network and application server hardware/software, and peripheral network equipment; possess Information Assurance Management Level 2 Certification.
Education
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
