THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a ELECTRONICS MECHANIC (TITLE 32), Position Description Number NGD0876000 and is part of the TN ARMY National Guard.
This vacancy is covered by Association of Civilian Technicians (ACT), Chapter 110.
Duties
As an ELECTRONICS MECHANIC (MILITARY) WG-2604-11, you will troubleshoot, inspect, install, maintain, overhaul, repair, and modify complete operational systems consisting of numerous complex integral components. Complete operational checks, inspections, tests and troubleshooting of line replaceable unit (LRU). Isolate unusual malfunctions using technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams, tools and test equipment including automatic test equipment. Complete bench check, testing, repair, inspection, modification, programming, reprogramming, mating, adjusting, alignment, and analyzing of LRUs and shop replaceable units. Recommend methods to improve equipment performance, technical data, and maintenance procedures by reporting hardware and software malfunctions, initiates materiel deficiency reports both on equipment and in technical data, and assists in design changes as necessary. When designated on NGB Flying Status Orders, serves as member of flight crew for the purpose of diagnosing and recording malfunctions, or otherwise determining maintenance and repair requirements. Guide lower level mechanics in performance of tasks. Conduct on-the-job training on assigned systems and related support equipment and tasks to include classroom instruction as necessary. Process and account for due-in supply assets. Prepare for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations such as Operational Readiness Evaluations (ORE), Command Logistics Readiness Inspections (CLRT-X), and Aviation Resource Management Surveys. Perform other duties as assigned.

- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
- Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
- Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
- Preplacement Medical Requirements: Selectee will be required to undergo medical testing, at the expense of the government, prior to beginning employment.

- For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment

Qualifications
Military Grades: E-4 through E-8
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the candidate's ability to lead other NG employees engaged in the inspection, installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic equipment. Ability to read and interpret circuit diagrams, electrical blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams, and to assign work and monitor progress.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 18 months of experience or training which demonstrates the knowledge of and skill in the repair of electronics equipment sufficient to organize and direct the work of others. Experience which demonstrates an applicant's ability to provide guidance to others in troubleshooting malfunctions. Experience which demonstrates an applicant's ability to instruct others in the use of precision measuring and test equipment. Experience in interpreting technical publications and providing guidance to others.
