This position is located at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. This position is a Flexible (Flex) position and there are 0 guaranteed hours per week. Flex employees are not entitled to leave or benefits. There is no upper limit to the number of hours a flexible employee may work (subject to overtime obligations and work scheduling requirements).

Duties

Prepares and cooks a variety of menu items. Working alone or with the assistance of a higher-grade cook or supervisor, prepares a variety of foods and desserts according to menu requirements. Brings prepared foods from preparation area to refrigerators or serving area. Picks up items needed for menu preparation; rotating food inventories as appropriate. Operates kitchen equipment designed to mix and cook food items. Uses, cleans and maintains power kitchen equipment. Assists in training lower grade cooks or kitchen help and provide advice on how to improve their work methods. Performs other duties s assigned.

Requirements

• Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
• A one year probationary period may be required.
• Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
• Satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, 2-15j(1) to include a medical examination.
• Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training is required within 30 days of employment and a minimum of 4 hours refresher training annually
• Incumbent may be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.
• Must be able to lift or move objects up to 50 pounds unassisted, and occasionally lift or move objects weighing over 40 pounds with the assistance of other workers or lifting devices.
• Must be willing and available to work a rotating shift that will include early mornings, days, nights, weekends and holidays to support mission needs

Qualifications

Qualifications: 1. Must possess a minimum of 6 months of work experience directly related to the duties described above, that included skill in working with professional kitchen appliances and equipment. 2. Be able to communicate (verbal and written) in English. Highly Preferred Criteria: . Possess a valid ServSafe Certification.
