This position is located at Aberdeen Proving Ground. This position is a Flexible (Flex) position and there are 0 guaranteed hours per week. Flex employees are not entitled to leave or benefits. There is no upper limit to the number of hours a flexible employee may work (subject to overtime obligations and work scheduling requirements).

Duties

Operates large, complex riding lawn mower, and/or specially designed riding mowers to mow in areas requiring attention to space and environment. Performs tasks that require significant manual skill, very heavy physical effort, several steps, phases, and detailed procedures. (e.g., preparing ground for sod, flowers and shrubs) Equipment characteristics include single function performance and components that are independently controlled through various hydraulic and/or mechanical devises. Performs other duties as assigned.

• A one year probationary period may be required.
• Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
• Appointment subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2.
• This position requires a physical. Failure to satisfactory complete the physical and background checks may result in separation.
• Incumbent may also be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally controlled facilities.
• Must have and retain a valid driver's license.
• Works indoors and outdoors. May be exposed to adverse weather conditions when working outdoors. Exposed to drafts, noise, dust, and dirt. Possibility of bruises, muscle strains, cuts and scrapes.
• Required to follow safety procedures and use standard safety equipment such as gloves, ear protectors, and safety glasses and exercise proper handling of equipment to avoid serious injury in the work area.
• Requires frequent lifting and moving of equipment weighing over 50 pounds.
• Must be willing and available to work a rotating shift that will include early mornings, days, nights, weekends and holidays to support mission needs.

Qualifications: 1. Demonstrated work experience that includes the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the duties of this position as indicated above. 2. Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. 3. Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment.
