The incumbent of this position will serve as a Health Technician and function as a member of the Diabetes Prevention and Education Program staff with primary functions being to assist staff with the preparation, implementation, and documentation of diabetes prevention activities in the community. This position is supervised by the Supervisory Diabetes Program Manager.
Duties
Plan and implement community activities such as nutrition classes, exercise activities and other grant related activities.
Assist clients in meeting specific weight loss and physical activity goals.
Applies goal-setting, appropriate teaching strategies, and other techniques suitable to help clients arrange and strengthen their environment to allow achievement and maintenance of goals.
Makes frequent, individual contact with participant either in person, by phone, or email when possible.
Track patient's progress towards meeting program goals and objectives by performing data entry on all required measures within timeframe specified.
Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
For positions requiring positive education requirements, or if you are using education to meet all or part of the qualification requirements, you MUST submit a copy of your transcripts or an itemized list of college courses which includes equivalent information from the transcript (course title, semester/quarter hours, and grade/degree earned) in your resume.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Such experience would include Preparing fitness plans and coaching participants in activities to promote a healthy lifestyle.
OR
One full year of graduate education in a field that is directly related to the work of this position.
OR
A combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The total percentage equals to at least 100 percent to qualify for this GS-07 grade level.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
