About the Position: This position is located at the 88th MDG, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.

Duties

Clears, breaks down, and cleans assigned area. Performs trash removal and cleaning duties within established time frame to prevent contamination. Operates mechanical dishwasher appropriately in accordance with established procedures. Sanitizes garbage disposal equipment and areas. Unloads food and beverages from delivery trucks. Moves heavy filled garbage cans when collecting and transferring trash from work to disposal areas.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • A pre-placement medical examination is required.
  • Moderate to heavy lifting up to 40 pounds is required.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Food Service Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. Kitchen and food related cleaning, sanitizing, and trash disposal; AND collecting soiled dishes and trays, loading and operating dish washing machines, cleaning kitchen equipment including the use of powered cleaning equipment, manually cleaning heavy cooking utensils, and sanitizing work areas; AND assisting in unloading supply trucks; AND moving trash cans to disposal areas. The worker may be required to work on ladders and perform heavy work such as scouring and scrubbing large-size cooking utensils and moving heavy carts and trucks in unloading, storing, and delivering supplies. They frequently lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds. The heavier items (over 44 pounds) are moved with assistance from other workers. Working Conditions: The work is performed in the kitchen area where steam and heat from cooking and dishwashing equipment often cause uncomfortably high temperatures and humidity. The work area is well lighted but usually noisy from food service activities, and there is danger of slipping on floors where food or beverages have been dropped. The worker is regularly exposed to hot liquids, sharp cutting blades, hot working surfaces, and extreme temperature changes when entering walk-in refrigeration or freezing units.
