This position is located in the Industrial Equipment Maintenance Branch, Plant Engineering Division, United States Mint, Denver. As part of the US Mint, Denver's Apprenticeship Program (as it applies to the Plant Engineering Division) this position has been established below the full performance level (WG-5306-11) to provide the employee with training in the position to be able to work with a variety of complex integrated heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems.
Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the WG-11. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
Installs, maintains, and troubleshoots malfunctions on a variety of complex integrated heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems
Balances and makes adjustments to complex, integrated HVAC systems to meet climate-controlled conditions in production, administrative offices, laboratory, and maintenance areas by changing and monitoring settings - using the Building Automation Systems (BAS), computers, valves, heating and cooling dampers and motors
Installs, maintains, and troubleshoots water coolers, refrigerators, ventilation equipment, and air conditioners, and repairs, overhauls, and replaces parts, components, and controls for same
Tests for refrigerant and coolant leaks, evacuates, and cleans systems, and recharges refrigerant systems using chemical dryers, evacuation and vacuum pumps, and other equipment as required
