This position is located at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain, Ml, a Level 3 Complexity VHA Facility, and is organizationally aligned under the Nursing Service. The incumbent reports to the Associate Chief, Inpatient N&PCS and is responsible for supporting employee
education programs and administrative processes which serve the facility to meet the education needs of Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center staff and trainees.
Duties
The primary purpose of this position is to provide expert and timely development and technical support in the planning, development, and coordination of education and training activities for Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center employees and to perform duties aligned with the programs of Training Specialists and the clerical, administrative, and equipment/ media needs of Education.
Duties include:
Primary contact for hospital-wide employee and trainee TMS Help Desk issues and problems.
Assists service training delegates with TMS Issues and provides training on an ongoing basis.
Performs tasks associated with Assignment Manager, Scheduling Manager, Registration Manager, and Item Managers roles.
Serves as back-up instructor for all-employee New Employee Orientation (NEO Program- Phase I).
Performs as an instructor for logistically-established courses for the facility, as needed by Education Services and the hospital, including: Preventive Management of Disruptive Behavior (PMDB), VA Voices, Own the Moment, Computer Skills, and Workforce Leadership Development Program.
Responsible for providing oversight and management of training sessions to ensure effective operation of all hosted activities.
Responsible for managing classroom reservations and the facility-wide room reservation software, including, the use of VTEL, Microsoft Teams and/or teleconferencing systems.
Responsible for providing excellent customer service to internal and external stake holders in keeping with the VA's mission and ICARE values.
Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 12/05/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience GS-6: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Providing administrative and customer service support in person, over the phone, and via written correspondence to staff and vendors; Assisting in the planning, coordination, evaluation, and logistical activities of program functions; Coordinating and scheduling the use of facilities, equipment and materials. Arranging venues, schedule classes/meetings, and coordinate with staff requiring attendance; providing training and education to employees.

Education: As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-5 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, walking is required to become familiar with the Hospital and location of training sites and media equipment. there also there can be long periods of standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or pushing media carts with equipment. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
