You will serve as a PHYSICAL SCIENTIST/OCEANOGRAPHER in the Ocean Collections Division, Ocean Projects Department of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS.
Duties
You will be responsible for establishing a worldwide Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) survey program.
You will implement new methods and techniques in an operational environment.
You will plan and performs investigations to test and evaluate new AUV technologies and related engineering, AUV/UUV modeling, simulation and visualization technologies, and determines which are suitable for operational use.
You will establish new criteria or extends existing methodology for use of new and innovative AUV and sensor technology and related technologies.
You will develop new guidelines in a rapidly evolving field that has extensive impact on Navy and other national programs.
You will evaluate effects of significant technological developments in AUVs, sensors, modeling, simulation, and visualization on fundamental
agency policies, objectives, goals, and operational methods.
You will provide advice and guidance to top agency management on technical matters of substantial difficulty and controversy.
You will plan and organize oceanographic surveys, including planning data collection in support of AUV testing, and determining appropriate data and collection methodologies.
You will plan, arrange and manage data collection and preliminary analysis work performed by the courses and tracks to be followed.
You will develop new information, considering data from variety of sources, modifying and originating approaches, methods, and procedures to plan and carry out assignments.
You will Coordinate highly complex project activities among agency, other DOD, academic, and contractor scientists representing a wide variety of diverse disciplines.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
Qualifications
For GS-14: In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-13) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
*Technical experience and knowledge of Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs);
*Operational Experience with AUVs (Concept of Operations, Fleet Coordination);
*Project Management (Requirements, Schedules and Deliverables);
*Management of Human Resources (Personnel Qualifications, Training, Mentoring, Operational Assignments).
