About the Position: Employee performs first and second echelon maintenance for the U.S. Army Support Activity on a variety of target equipment to include, but not limited to gasoline, electric, and hydraulic powered infantry and stationary target lifting devices (hardwire or remote operated) and associated equipment necessary to operate automated ranges.
Note: Position is located at Camp Bullis, which is located approximately 20 miles North of Fort Sam Houston, TX.
Duties
Perform maintenance on a variety of target equipment to include gasoline, electric, and hydraulic powered infantry and stationary target lifting devices (hardwire or remote operated) and associated equipment necessary to operate automated ranges.
Inspect, test, repair, replace, recondition, and troubleshoot components.
Service, adjust, align, calibrate, and install a variety of components.
Diagnose equipment malfunction and determine if they are repairable or should be declared unserviceable.
Operate a variety of power and hand tools to troubleshoot and repair complex electronics equipment such as a variety of powered infantry and stationary target lifting devices and associated equipment typically used on automated ranges.
Prepare and maintain maintenance records and other associated documentation.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
- This position requires an irregular tour of duty to cover a continuous 24 hour a day 7 days a week.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Electronics Mechanic without more than normal supervision. such as exhibiting experience in: performing maintenance on a variety of equipment such as gasoline, electric and hydraulic powered infantry and stationary target lifting devices (hardwire or remote operated), target kill simulators and related lifting device equipment to include repairing and/or replacing defective hardware and parts; utilizing a variety of electronic principles to test and repair equipment, conducting inspections, diagnosing nature and extent of equipment malfunction and replacing defective components, wiring and adjusting mechanical parts, using hand tools and soldering iron in order to troubleshoot and conduct repairs. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORTS: Work requires frequently lifting and carrying, unassisted, items weighing up to 18 kilograms (40 pounds). They are sometimes required to lift and carry items weighing more than 23 kilograms (50 pounds) with the help of weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. The work requires frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, and stooping. Climbing and working in high places may be required. Some work may require the aid of magnifying lenses, eye loops, and microscopes to accomplish repairs on miniature components.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in well lighted, heated, and ventilated areas. Work is sometimes in high and restricted places, under conditions of heat and cold and outside in inclement weather. They are exposed to the possibility of electric shock; burns from electrical or RF energy or hot solder; and cuts and bruises.
