Duties
As a Director Office of Public Housing, you will:
Direct a supervisory staff who manages professional, technical and clerical staff who provides services for their assigned key public housing functional areas.
Communicate, coordinate, and cooperate with the Secretary's Representative, Coordinator, and other program managers on Public Housing and Section 8 programs, policy and technical issues.
Maintain contacts with PHA directors; local, State and Federal government officials; resident groups; private sector executives; and, associations to improve PHA performance and resolve sensitive and controversial issues.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience is defined as one year of experience at the next lower grade level. For the GS-15, Specialized Experience is one year at the GS-14 level and is defined as:
Managing or leading a team working in affordable housing programs; AND
Providing technical and administrative support to subordinate employees; AND
Communication with local, state, or federal Government officials advocating for an office or agency mission.
Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your resume.
Time-in-Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-15 you must have been at the GS-14 level for 52 weeks.
Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
